About Me

Mildred J. Perea-Bonet, MD is a Board Certified Pediatrician born and raised in Puerto Rico.  She had a passion for medicine since an early age, given that her late father was a doctor.  She has been practicing pediatric medicine in Tampa, Florida since 2009. Dr. Perea earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology (Magna Cum Laude) in 2002 from University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez, and her Medical Doctor degree in 2006 from Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine (Ponce, Puerto Rico).  Dr. Perea completed her pediatric residency training at the University of South Florida, and practiced at both All Children’s Hospital and Tampa General Hospital.  After her residency training, she worked with underserved, inner-city families and immigrants at a community health center for eight years. She is currently working at a pediatric private practice group in the Tampa Bay area.

Dr. Perea is active in her community. Since the fall of 2017, she has joined the group Doctoras Boricuas, a network of physicians who helped provide disaster relief to people that were affected in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. She also volunteers as a staff member of the non-profit organization Puerto Rico Rise Up (https://puertoricoriseup.org/) with the “mission of empowering and uplifting fellow Puerto Ricans to achieve equitable opportunities to secure a sustainable future through solidarity.”  She is fully bilingual, which has given her the opportunity to translate at the local church and be part of the Spanish team.  Since the summer of 2018, she became a contributor for the Pear app (www.pearenting.com). Through this app, she shares pediatric information with a community of parents.

During her spare time, she enjoys writing and blogging. She has recently started her Facebook blog and this webpage, Chronicles of a Juggling Mom. As a busy mom, wearing many hats and fulfilling many roles, she intended to share stories and identify with others through her blogs. Her goal is to inspire parents, particularly moms, as well as provide some valuable information given her background in Pediatrics.

We hope you enjoy our page!
